RAM Location and Replacement
Well for the past few months I have been bugged with "where is the ram in my damn laptop" well I found it, after toying around with it last night (being 31st November 2004) I finally cracked it (and found the damage of what I did when I got the laptop, over tightened some screws, three have poped the runners >.<). So anyway, as I was bored and am yet to find where it is, here is my own "Patriot 2276 ram locating tutorial".To start with you have to have the laptop in question.
After you have the laptop in a nice clean area, flip it on the lid, so it looks like this.
You will find 5 screw holes, but we only want the first three from the front (The three you can see in the image).
After they are unscrewed you want to spin it over, and with a small screw driver prise the top from the bottom, untill you get it looking like this.
Once your at this stage all round, you'll have to force it alittle so it pops off (It needs some force to pop, but wont break). You now should have the cover for the keyboard in your hands, put this out the way!
Now you have access to the keys, which just slide off.
This is attached by ribbon, I couldn't find a way without looking hard to remove this, so if you hold it with one hand it stays nicely out the way.
You now have a steel sheet to move, this just slides off too, push it up a lil, then lift it up and hold it with the keyboard.
Now you should have a steel plate showing, it has two screw holes, undo them, and with a flat screw driver (or finger nails if you have them) life it off (it's stuck down with tape, but lifts off with a little tug).
This is now exposing the ram (and if not used an empty space for another stick), push the clips on each side away and the ram will pop up.
Now with a little pulling the ram will slide out leaving you one (or two) empty slots, and you with some ram which can be put to one side as you replace with your upgraded ram, or you can use it to order some more ram.
In my laptop it has one stick of 64mb 100mhz ram.
And that's all there is to it. Thanks for reading.
