Suprise! You're Dead.
|
So I watched the final episodes of CSI Season 6 this weekend, and all I can say is OH MY F-WORDING GOD! What an ender that was, yet at the same time I'm happy that Gil finally got her, we've been saying it was going to happen since season 3, so happy for them.
Anyway, because I'm a geek (who is now a happy geek) here's the run down on my geekery this week.
First of all I got so pissed off with the noise that comes out of my PC that I've taken it out of commision for now, and am using my laptop, and of course as I love you all so much, here is a photo:

Hehe, I missed dual screen so much, so handy to have.
Anyway, as I've put so much green into my PC I wasn't just going to put it in the back of the cupboard, so I started researching water cooling, and started getting a nice parts list, when I noticed one small draw back. Whoever at DFI designed the Lanparty SLi-DR needs a drug test.
Due to the placement of the chipset I cannot get a block for it unless I want to get rid of my graphics card. So I was told by a guy from Nexopia (lowfat32) that there is no gain in a chipset block, so I should just look for a low noise air cooler. The problem is the space I have, and as they say, a picture paints a thousand words.

So space isn't on my side for this one. Which sucks some what, so I'll have to try and find a low profile cooler or block, which chucks out my idea of getting the zalman passive cooler, as it is way too tall.
Oh well, I'll keep on looking, maybe I can find a low profile block, or get one custom made which will allow the card to slot in the middle of the inlet and outlet barbs.
I guess I should start revising for my exams this week, and probably start working on the new layout. I've had it on a back burner for ages, just I can't think up a design. Which has always been my problem, I can string up almost anything, just I can never design it.
Take care.

You're Awake, I Hate You.

So I figured it's time I get over being a pissy little bitch. As such I thought I'd break the uni rules and share my last assignment with you.

That's right boys and girls, Pong. Now it's by no means perfect, infact, it's a very evil hack job. However it works nicely the AI are a little idiotic, but the game was made for a two player game (though I never got round to making it network capable, so you have to play on one keyboard).
So if you want to burn a little time you can download pong here. Hope you enjoy the game, and read the read me. It'll help you get going.

I'm Saying Stop.

I reverted back to my old theme for now. Not the best in the world, but it'll do the job until I finish the one I started working on.
It's also the last few weeks of uni until I go home, which I cannot wait for. The morons I have to share a house with really need a kick square in the balls. Plus the fact it means I can put something down in the kitchen without thinking "well crap, now it's got aids all over it".
But at the same time this means I'm even closer to a stupid damn holiday which I'd much rather not go on. God only knows why anyone would want to got Majorca.
As a foot note which is aimed at one person (and you know who you are) and I'm too lazy to take time out to send give you this message anyother way. Now that I am not associated with your bullshit, you bet your fucking ass I do.

It's Dead :(
|
Yes, PMD Customs original server, also know as my laptop (INTEL-866-PIII), is dead. Which is a shame, but oh well. I may trust my techie skills a lot, but changing the screen on a laptop. Not something I'm comfortable doing. Plus the fact that due to a slight fall (by slight I mean out of a 6ft high cupboard) it had a large ammount of cosmetic damage, and the touch pad was playing up after which. I did have to rebuild it after the fall as the whole thing feel apart.
But the lid had two rather large cracks, massive damage to the screen, damage to the CD Drive, damage to the touch pad, damage to the keyboard, and the battery flew out and almost broke my mates ankle. However, with the exeption of the screen and touch pad all damage was cosmetic.
So that aside, R.I.P Patriot 2276

Welcome to the family HP Compaq nx6110

I'll put up a full spec list when I get more time. But this laptop is hard to get used to, doesn't feel the same. But oh well, I'm sure over time it'll grow on me.

So What Do We Know?
|
Hola.
This is just a geek post really. So all none geeks can skip it. Should have some real news another time.
So I figured it was time to push my chip to see how far she can scale. My ultimate goal was 3ghz, but on the way to getting what I did I found my ram is extremely limited (I couldn't run a divider of 14 so I was forced to OC my RAM up and over where I'd like to (CPU/13 is the lowest I could go), which also crippled my OC'ing attempts.), but on my way to try and crack 2.8ghz I push the voltage on my chip to rather high, this made my PSU cry and cut out, at the same time it tripped the power to my house
But none the less on air I managed to scale my chip to 2792mhz, which I have to say I was impressed with. Next on my order list is better ram, better PSU and water. Then maybe a case, after which this rig will stop getting upgrades (unless I get tempted by a PhysX card) and I'll work on some of my older boxes.

Yeah, that's all. |
